Creating brews

A brew is made by passing your ingredients through different structures. To finish one, your steps have to land close enough to one of the recipes set by the server staff, so recipes can be different on every server.

Every brew starts the same way: ingredients go into a boiler (a cauldron). The next section covers it.

Mixing and cooking

  • Cooking: put a heat source (campfire, magma block or fire) under the cauldron.
  • Mixing: no heat needed.
  • Fill the cauldron with water, then right-click it while holding an ingredient to add it.
  • Particles rise from the cauldron while it works. Their color shifts as you get closer to a recipe or as the brew progresses.
  • Right-click with a clock to see how long it has been processing.
  • When it looks ready, right-click with empty bottles to collect the brew.
Timing and ingredient amounts depend on each recipe, so expect to experiment.

Distilling

Not every recipe needs it, but many do. Distilling uses its own structure instead of a brewing stand.

Build the distillery

You need 3 decorated pots and 3 bamboo fences. Sneak while placing blocks against a decorated pot, otherwise the item goes inside the pot. A chat message confirms a correct build.

Use it

  • The two stacked pots are inputs. The single pot is the output.
  • Right-click an input pot to open the mixture menu and add your brew.
  • Right-click the output pot to open the distillate menu. Distilled brews appear there after a while, with particles above the pot while it runs.
How many times to distill depends on the recipe. Try it and see.

Aging

Aging is slow. A typical beer needs about an hour, roughly 3 in-game days, inside a barrel. Some brews age fine in any barrel, others do better in a specific wood.

Build a barrel

Place all the barrel blocks, then place a sign facing one of them last. A chat message confirms it worked, and you can remove the sign afterwards. There are a small and a large layout by default. If neither works, ask staff whether they set up custom barrels.
